Claims FAQ’s

What is an EOB?

An EOB (Explanation of Benefits) is an explanation of how your plan benefits were applied to your bills, so in other words what the insurance company has paid and has not paid for your claim. Your EOBs will show any amounts you still owe, what amounts have been paid already, and anything you might need to take action on (such as completing a claim form).

How are medical claims processed in the USA?

If you are receiving treatment through your insurance plans network, the doctor/hospital should submit the bill directly to Point Comfort for processing. You will need to make sure to hand over a copy of your insurance ID card at the time of treatment, as this contains all the information about your insurance plan. After treatment, you will need to complete the claims form (and accident questionnaire if applicable) and submit this to Point Comfort for processing.

If the provider is not part of the network or you do not have your insurance ID card with you, they will typically ask for payment to be made upfront, and you would need to submit a claim form for reimbursement. Please keep copies of all receipts, bills and your full medical records so you can submit that to Point Comfort along with a completed claim form.

How are medical claims processed outside the USA?

If you are based outside the USA, please call Point Comfort or locate a doctor/hospital online that is close to you to seek treatment. In most cases you will need to pay for your medical expenses at the time of treatment and then submit a claim for reimbursement.

How do you get reimbursed for medications?

If you have been given a prescription medication by the doctor, please do the following:

  1. Visit a local pharmacy that accepts the Magellan Rx Network, and hand over the prescription from your doctor.
  2. You will need to pay your plans prescription co-pay and the claims information will be sent directly from the pharmacy to the insurance company for processing.
  3. If you are required to pay up front for any prescription medication, complete a claim form and include your original receipts and the Rx label of the medication to be reimbursed for your eligible expenses.
