Individual and Group Insurance Plans for Au Pairs
The international Au Pair market is one that is hard to quantify in terms of numbers, as there are no real global figures from any agencies. Each country around the world has differing policies, some keep national statistics and others do not. However what we do know is that in 2012, the International Au Pair Association (IAPA) compiled a survey of all its members to try to obtain some solid numbers for the international Au Pair market.
Of the existing IAPA members, 104 agencies responded to the survey providing the clearest indication of the international Au Pair landscape. From the report we were able to find that there is an annual market growth rate of around 10% and on average the largest sending countries are Germany, France and the USA - and the main receiving countries are those same countries!
When becoming an Au Pair, it is important to select the right agency for you, as they will be able to guide you through the process, from visa approval to arriving in-country and meeting your family for the first time. They will also be a very large part of your support when you are abroad, in case things do come up.
In most cases, your sending or receiving agency will provide you with an international insurance plan to cover you. However, there may be situations whereby you need to purchase your own insurance coverage, or the coverage provided to you is not sufficient to meet your needs.
You can purchase a range of individual insurance plans, or if you are looking for an Au Pair group insurance plan you can also visit our sister website, Work and Travel Insurance Services for more information about that.
