What is Telehealth?
Illness or injury can strike suddenly. Telehealth gives you access to medical help via telephone or web, any time, day or night. Using MD Live’s telehealth service, you can connect with a provider online and receive a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan, including prescriptions for common medications, when necessary. How does MD Live work?
After you’ve created your account, it’s simple to request a real-time consultation with one of MD Live’s providers. Your provider will review your medical history and perform a video exam or phone consultation within minutes. You will then receive a medical record and care instructions electronically, with any necessary prescriptions sent to your local pharmacy. If you require urgent care, you will be immediately referred to the nearest emergency room or urgent care center. The entire telehealth visit is completed on average within 30 minutes or less. What health concerns can MD Live help treat?
MD Live allows you to talk to a doctor by phone or video chat about non-emergency health issues like sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, flu symptoms, rashes, and many other illnesses. They count with a national network of board-certified doctors, pediatricians, dermatologists, psychiatrists, and therapists ready to help you. Your doctor will diagnose your symptoms and provide treatment, which may include a prescription. How are my MD Live visits covered?
Your MD Live visits are covered as any other visit. Be aware that copayments and coinsurances apply. Can I get a prescription?
When medically necessary, MD Live doctors can submit an electronic prescription for pick-up at your local pharmacy. If you are filling your prescription at a pharmacy that is part of the Express Scripts Network, you would be responsible for the prescription co-pay, which will depend on the level of the Student Defender plan you have purchased. What if I need a referral?
If you are referred for follow-up care outside of MD Live, any further visits will be handled by your insurance and will need to be submitted to your insurance claims team for processing.
