Looking for sports coverage?

If you are practicing sports while living abroad, you want to make sure you have the right type of coverage in case you get hurt and need medical assistance. Depending on the type of sports you practice, we have different plan options for you:
  • If you are part of a team in your school and take part in intercollegiate, interscholastic, intramural or club sports, our Student Secure plan has an organized sports rider option that can be really useful.
  • If you are into extreme or adventure sports, like rappelling,  skydiving or parachuting, our Patriot Travel plan can be purchased with added extreme sports coverage.
  • If you practice sports for leisure or fitness purposes that are not categorized as extreme or contact sports, they are typically covered by any of our international student health plans with no add-on.

To learn more about the different sports categories and the plans that cover them, you can check our blog about Sports Insurance for International Students.

Over-the-counter birth control?

Recently, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the US’s first “over-the-counter” birth control pill called “Opill.” “Over-the-counter” refers to medications that can be purchased at a pharmacy without a prescription from a doctor. THIS IS BIG NEWS! Check our latest blog to learn why.

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month!

From September 15 to October 15, Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated as a way to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Communities mark the achievements of Hispanics and Latin America with festivals and educational activities. Hispanics represent around 20% of the US population and their contributions to art, politics, activism, science, sports, business and many other professions are invaluable. Learn more about contributions by Hispanics to American culture here.

A good part of International Student Insurance’s staff is of Latin American origin. When you contact our agents, you can receive attention either in English or Spanish!

If you are planning to study abroad or visit a Latin American country, you can check the country pages we have created for countries such as
Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico and more!
