On the 1st September 2007 the Finnish Government put into force new regulations for international students studying in Finland requiring them to have adequate 
international health insurance while they are studying in Finland. These new international student insurance regulations for Finland are currently set out as:
- Students in Finland less than two years - must have a health insurance policy that covers treatment and medication costs up to €100,000 euros.
- Students in Finland a minimum of two years - must have a health insurance policy that covers treatment and medication costs up to €30,000 euros.
