Does this insurance comply with visa requirements for other countries?

Generally our plans meet all the requirements for visa applications around the world. What we do recommend before you purchase any insurance policy is to first check with the country you are applying to.

Will this insurance be accepted by my university?

Our insurance is usually accepted by most schools in the USA as we comply with all US visa requirements. However, it is always best to check with your school directly before purchasing.

Am I eligible for insurance?

You are eligible for our insurance if you are a citizen who is planning to reside or travel outside of your home country.

For example, if you are an F-1 student visiting the USA, then you are eligible or if you are a US citizen traveling to the UK.

What is a beneficiary? A beneficiary is the person who will receive the payment in the event of the insured's death. Within our policies we have an Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit and a Common Carrier Accidental Death benefit which pay out in the event of the insured's death

How do I receive my policy?

When you apply for your policy with ISI, you will be given three (3) options to choose from. They will be:

  1. Online Fulfilment - this is where all your policy documents will be sent electronically to your email address once you have applied. This includes you ID card, insurance confirmation and certificate. If you select this option, we will not mail out a hard copy in the mail.
  2. Offline Fulfilment - this is where we mail out your policy details via regular mail. Please remember that this can take up to 7 days for delivery inside the USA and up to 14 days for delivery to a non-USA address.
  3. Express Offline Fulfilment - this is where we mail out your policy details via overnight delivery for an extra $20 charge

How soon will I receive confirmation?

If you apply online, and opt for online fulfilment, you will receive your confirmation and policy details right after you apply. If, however, you apply by regular mail, your confirmation will take up to 7-10 days to arrive to you. Although we process all application within 24 hours, the delay by applying by regular mail is the mailing system.

I ran a quote on your website, but is this quote per month or for the full period I need coverage for?

If you ran a free quote on our website, the cost will be for the full amount of time you ran the quote for. For instance if you need coverage for 6 months and ran a quote for 6 months, the quoted cost will be for that full period of 6 months.

When I go through the application, it asks for:

1 - Requested Effective Date

2 - Date of Departure

3 - Date of Return to Home Country

What is this?

When you apply online we need to know the following information:

1 - Your requested effective date is when you would like the policy to become effective and can be anytime in the future

2 - The date of departure is the date you departed or the date you expect to depart. If you are already in the country where you plan to stay, simply put the date of departure to be when you initially entered that country.

3 - The date of return to home country is the date that you will be returning, or planning to return to your home country. This can be sometime in the future.

I need proof of insurance for my visa application - can I get a letter?

If you are applying for a visa to countries such as Germany, France, Italy, etc.. they require a letter from the company with whom you have insurance which states you are covered in their country. We can create this letter very easily - all you need to do is:

  • Apply for the insurance
  • Once you have your policy number, simply send us an email stating that a) you need a visa letter; b) the country you need the letter for; and c) the fax number where we need to send this.
  • Send this email to: visa@internationalstudentinsurance.com

Can I cancel my insurance?

If you purchase a policy and find out that you do not need it, then you need to let us know before it has become effective. If you do let us know before your plan has become effective, we will cancel the plan and issue a full refund

If the plan has become effective and you would like to cancel it, please contact us for more information.

I am not a student - can I still apply?

Yes. Even if you are not a student, you can still apply for the insurance. We have also developed a website specifically for non-students so you might want to visit that:
